ADTSG Virtual Presentation Announcement

The Alcohol, Drugs, and Tobacco Study Group is hosting guest speaker Dr. Lauren Textor for a virtual presentation on Thursday, June 18th at 5pm. Anyone interested in learning about her work or about our SIG in general is encouraged to join! Her bio can be reviewed below:

Lauren Textor completed an MD and PhD in anthropology at the University of California, Los Angeles, and is currently a physician resident in the department of psychiatry at UCLA. Her research examines downstream impacts of health care and drug policies particularly focused on opioids. Her research  involves community-driven ethnographic fieldwork in collaboration with grassroots harm reduction organizations and is located across several hospitals, rehabs, and a large-scale encampment in Southern California. She examines how housing policies, drug law enforcement, and health care initiatives affect long-term trajectories for people who use drugs. Her recent research investigates the ways that past experiences with criminalization, racism, and health care shape embodied effects and efficacy of medications such as buprenorphine.

The Team Meeting details can be found on this flyer.

We can’t wait to get together soon!
