Call for Applications: MAQ Digital Editor

Medical Anthropology Quarterly invites applications for the position of MAQ Digital Editor.  This is a three-year appointment, starting in January 2026.  The MAQ Digital Editor helps to generate and curate content for the MAQ’s “Critical Care” series. The Digital Editor is also expected to attend MAQ editorial board meetings.

The subject heading of your application email should read “MAQ Digital Editor Application.” The letter should describe your reasons for applying, outline your qualifications, and propose a series that you would like to curate and edit during your term as Digital Editor.  Minimum qualifications for the position include a Ph.D. in anthropology or a closely related field, evidence of active research and peer-reviewed publications in medical anthropology, and a demonstrated knowledge of the state of the field. The digital editor must show an ability to identify and communicate with potential contributors across the breadth of the discipline and to provide effective feedback to authors and fellow editors. Applications from individuals or teams (of no more than 3 scholars) are welcome. Team applications should include a CV for each team member along with a single cover letter outlining the team’s qualifications and vision for sharing the editorial workload.
