Visiting Lecturer: Visiting Lecturer in Environmental Studies, Mount Holyoke College

The Mount Holyoke College Department of Environmental Studies invites applications for a one-year visiting lecturer position in environmental studies, with area of specialty in environmental and public health, to begin Fall 2017. The successful candidate will have completed a Ph.D. in an interdisciplinary program or in a natural-science, social-science, or humanities field, or a doctorate in public health (DrPH). Ideal candidates will explore how pollutants affect the health of people and ecosystems, specifically focusing on the linkages among environmental processes, chemical stressors, and ecological and human health. We seek candidates who are committed to undergraduate, liberal-arts education and employ interdisciplinary perspectives and approaches in their teaching. Teaching responsibilities include introductory and intermediate courses in environmental and public health and advanced courses in the candidate’s field of expertise. A Ph.D. is required by start of contract period, and post-doctoral research, teaching, or mentoring experience is desirable. Teaching load is 3/2; salary is competitive. The successful candidate will have a demonstrated record of strong teaching at the undergraduate level and experience mentoring students who are broadly diverse with regard to race, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, gender, nationality, sexual orientation, and religion.
