The Institute of Ethnology (Faculty of History and Philosophy) of the Westfälische WilhelmsUniversität Münster (WWU) invites applications for the position of a full professorship: Professorship (W3) in Social Anthropology

The successful candidate must cover all areas of the discipline of anthropology in teaching and research. The successful candidate’s expertise is expected to focus on medical anthropology, preferably with additional knowledge of media anthropology. S/he is prepared to cooperate in the regular degree programmes (Kultur- und Sozialanthropologie (BA) and Sozialanthropologie/Social Anthropology (MA)) as well as in the professional training graduate program “Visual Anthropology”.

The candidate should have a record of relevant publications on his or her own fieldwork research conducted in a non-European region in the area of medical anthropology and, if applicable, media anthropology. The candidate should be able to hold lectures and lead seminars in English and German. S/he should be ready to participate in interdisciplinary research groups of the Faculty of History & Philosophy and others within the WWU. S/he should be experienced in the acquisition of external funding.

Conditions of employment are a successfully completed university degree, pedagogical aptitude and competence in academic research, usually attested by an outstanding dissertation. Prerequisites for the application are further academic achievements made as a Junior Professor (Assistant Professor), in a Habilitation (postdoctoral qualification), as a member of the academic staff of a university or non-university research institute or in a research position in business, industry, administration or other relevant fields in Germany or abroad.
