Job: Center for Innovation to Implementation (Ci2i) , Department of Veterans Affairs (VA)

The Center for Innovation to Implementation (Ci2i) in the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Palo Alto Health Care System is hiring a Qualitative Investigator to join its prestigious multidisciplinary research center. The VA is the largest integrated health care system in the US and serves more than 8.3 million Veterans annually. Investigators conduct single and multi-center research projects and serve as a national resource for scientific and technical expertise on mental health care, medical specialty care, and methods for assessing and improving health care value. Ci2i is located in Menlo Park in the San Francisco Bay Area. This position is full time at the GS-13 level ($98,000) plus excellent benefits (no relocation expenses).

The person who fills this position should have a doctoral degree, experience conducting research in health care settings, expertise with qualitative methods, and a willingness to learn about new areas of health services research. Specifically, the person must be knowledgeable about both the theoretical foundations of qualitative research and diverse qualitative data collection and analysis methods. He/she is expected to provide consultation and assistance to colleagues interested in incorporating qualitative data collection and analysis into their research designs, assist with data analysis, and contribute to manuscripts. The ideal candidate will also have experience developing and writing research grants. There will be opportunities for the qualitative investigator to write his/her own grants as a principal investigator as well as collaborate with others as a co-investigator on grants.
