The University of Texas at Arlington School of Social Work invites nominations and applications for 5 tenure track assistant professor positions effective fall semester 2017.

We are especially interested in adding faculty who will strengthen our capacity in the areas of Health, Aging, and Mental Health domains with a special emphasis on diversity and interdisciplinary research activities. In particular, we are interested in candidates who can further our collaborations with the College of Engineering (see https://t.e2ma.net/message/jgrxj/js005f for faculty interdisciplinary projects with engineering). Additionally, we support the UTA Strategic Plan and its Health and Human Condition theme (see http://www.uta.edu/strategicplan/plan/themes/health.php). Candidate interests, strengths and experiences collaborating with these interdisciplinary areas should be highlighted in the application cover letter.

Minimum requirements for the positions are:

• Ph.D. in social work or a related field (ABD considered)
• A record of publication in recognized refereed academic journals
• Evidence of a commitment to interdisciplinary research and moving toward obtaining external funding

Preferences include:

• Masters of Social Work (MSW) Degree
• Two years of post-MSW practice experience
• Teaching experience, with the ability to teach in our Health, Aging and Mental Health tracks
• Ability and interest in teaching online courses

The School of Social Work is one of the largest in the country, with more than 2,000 students enrolled in the BSW, MSW, and Ph.D. programs. The School is home to the Center for Addiction and Recovery Studies, the Judith Birmingham Center for Child Welfare, and the Center for Clinical Social Work, as well as serving as host for the University’s Diversity Studies Minor. It is also home to three professional journals: the Journal of Technology and Human Services, The Journal of Policy Practice, and Adoption Quarterly.
