Tenure Track Faculty Position in Population and Health. Northwestern University is seeking an experienced scholar in social epidemiology, population health or related fields, who has done extensive, theory-grounded work in demography, incorporating biological outcomes and covariates. Professor/Associate Professor (nine-month, tenure-track) - The University of Connecticut’s Center for Health, Intervention, and Prevention (CHIP), in cooperation with any of several academic departments at the University of Connecticut, seeks an accomplished research scientist with significant expertise in health behavior change research. CHIP seeks applicants with expertise in all areas of health behavior change (e.g., HIV prevention, alcohol and drug abuse; prevention, treatment, and management of chronic diseases such as cancer, obesity, metabolic syndrome; health risk reduction; health communication marketing campaigns; dissemination of effective health behavior change interventions; intervention cost-effectiveness analysis). The appointment would be as a tenure-track Associate or Full Professor. Assistant Professor - The Department of Medical Ethics at the University of Pennsylvania's School of Medicine seeks candidates for an Assistant Professor position in the tenure track. Tenure-track position in medical anthropology, with duties commencing at any time between January – September 2008. The successful applicant will be responsible for teaching in the joint UCSF -UC Berkeley Graduate Medical Anthropology Program as well as health professional students at UCSF. The position is open to candidates of assistant and associate professor level, but preference will be given to candidates with a proven track record of relevant research and publications, and with strong graduate-level teaching accomplishments. Preferred candidates will be familiar with teaching and research opportunities in a clinically-oriented health sciences environment. Theoretical and geographic areas of specialization are open. Topical interests are not limited but should complement existing interests in the Department and are especially desired in science, technology and medicine studies, international health and/or global science.

Traveling Faculty, International Honors Program/Health and Community
The International Honors Program (IHP) in affiliation with SIT/World Learning offers international comparative study abroad programs. We are currently seeking 2-3 individuals to join an interdisciplinary team of faculty and host country coordinators for "IHP Health and Community," a four month long program that will take 32 students from upper tier liberal arts colleges and universities in the U.S. to India, South Africa and China. The Spring 2008 program begins in Geneva in mid-January and ends in Cape Town in mid-May. The program is experience-based and comparative in its approach to the study of health, culture, community, and globalization. It combines homestays, coursework, guest speakers and site visits, field-based case studies, and visits with community activists, government leaders, and representatives of intergovernmental and non- governmental organizations.
We are seeking a complementary team of 2-3 traveling faculty members to facilitate learning and teach one or more of the following courses (with possible areas of expertise noted):
- Health and Culture (medical anthropology)
- Health and Globalization (expertise in comparative health systems, trade policy and health, pharmaceutical access, work conditions and health, and/or migration and health)
- Stuff of Life: Biology, Behavior, and Society (clinical field and public health or social/behavioral science with strong biologic background)
The ideal candidates should have: a.) a Ph.D. (or clinical degree/MPH equivalent) in a related field; b) expertise in one or more of the topic areas listed above and/or generalist knowledge across several areas; c) teaching at the college level and commitment to alternative (non-didactic) methods of teaching (i.e. methods that promote inquiry- and field-based learning, discussion, and self-reflection); d) research or consulting experience with health issues in some part of the developing world (specific experience in South Africa, India, China desired); e) the physical stamina, psychosocial health, and sensibilities (flexibility, adaptability, collegiality, cross-cultural competence) needed to effectively manage study abroad in multiple countries.

Asst/Assoc/Full Professor in Bioethics at the University of Minnesota
The University of Minnesota Center for Bioethics is seeking an individual to fill a new tenured/tenure-track position. Rank is open; preference will be given to persons who have an established record of outstanding scholarship in bioethics, a strong record of extramurally supported research, and teaching experience in bioethics. Experience in any of the following is desired but not required: ethics and public health, pharmacy ethics, or research ethics. The faculty position is in the Center for Bioethics, with tenure-home appointment likely to be within the School of Public Health but negotiable depending on individual disciplinary expertise.
The successful candidate will be expected to:
1. Contribute to the development of the discipline of bioethics through research and scholarship.
2. Teach professional and graduate courses in bioethics. Ability to teach courses in ethics and public health, pharmacy ethics, or research ethics is preferred.
3. Provide mentoring and research advising for graduate students and/or professional students.
4. Assist with the development of curricula in area of expertise.
Minimum academic preparation and qualifications include:
1. PhD, JD, MD degree or equivalent terminal degree, completed before the appointment begins.
2. Two years of teaching experience at undergraduate, graduate, or professional school levels or comparable teaching experience with positive supporting data.
3. Evidence of scholarship in bioethics.
